Brookline Receives Approval for $580,000 in Funding for Two Pedestrian Bridges and a Sidewalk

In September the Selectboard applied for a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant to receive 80% funding to construct a pedestrian bridge over the Nissitissit River on Mason Road and a sidewalk along South Main Street from Route 130 to the newly created rail trail.  The sidewalk on South Main Street would include a pedestrian bridge over the Nissitissit River.  A total of 46 applications were submitted across New Hampshire and 12 were approved for funding.  Brookline's application ranked fourth statewide.

In order to proceed with the project, the Town will be required to fund the 20% balance of project costs, or $145,000.  The project will be voted on at town meeting on March 15, 2017.
