Vital Statistics

The Town Clerk’s office is the depository of vital records—births, marriages, and deaths that have been recorded in the Town of Brookline since 1769, when Brookline was incorporated, and divorce decrees that have been filed from 1990 to present. By state law, public access to those records is limited. Only those records prior to 1958 are available for public perusal.

Copies: The Town Clerk’s Office can prepare certified copies of birth, death, divorce and marriage certificates for a fee of $15.00 for the first copy. Any additional copy at the same time will be $10.00. The NH Department of Vital Records requires photo identification and a written request from customers requesting copies of vital records.

Marriage Licenses: Couples wishing to obtain a marriage license in Brookline can make an appointment with the Town Clerk for the application process, which takes about 15 minutes. They must bring proof of age, proof of any previous marriages ending in death, divorce, or civil annulment. The fee for a marriage license with a certified copy is $65.00. A marriage license application is good for 90 days after it is dated.
