Talbot-Taylor Wildlife Sanctuary

Ben Farnsworth Road
This easy two to three mile walk can easily fill the better part of a morning or afternoon. Read about this walk.
Getting there: Ben Farnsworth Road is off North Mason Road, approximately one mile beyond the transfer station. It is 6/10th mile long, the last 1/10th mile is a class VI road, which is rough. See Google Maps
Hobart-Fessenden Woods
Acquired in 2002 and still adding lots to this area. Consists of about 300 acres.

Getting There:
- Park at the intersection of Route 130 and Bohannon Bridge Road, then cross the street to Cider Mill Pond.
- Or park at the end of Pope Road which is 7/10th mile from the intersection of Old Milford and Rocky Pond Roads.
- Or drive to the end of Sargent Road and turn left opposite #28. The trail is to the right just before the white fence.
Hutchinson Hill Road
This road less traveled is close to 2.5 files round trip and is easy to walk. Read more.
Getting there: The entrance to Hutchinson Hill Road is just before the bridge over the Spaulding Brook on North Mason Road, as approached from Route 13. See Google Maps
Melendy-Morrill Woods
The Morrill lot comprises over 100 acres but is undeveloped with no established hiking trails. Combined total of 430 acres.

Getting there: Drive 2/10th mile on Old Milford Road from Route 13. Trail is on the left.
Nissitissit River Land Trust
The Trust maintains foot trails and canoe launches along the river and conducts hiking, snow shoeing and canoe trips in season. Read the story about how the trust has acquired over 600 acres.

Oak Hill Town Land
Adjacent to the Oak Hill Ball Field, the Oak Hill lot is approximately 30 acres in size. An old logging road serves as an attractive woods trail through the property

Getting there: Park at the Oak Hill ball field, opposite Bohannon Bridge Road. It can be accessed from four points along Parker and Oak Hill Rds.
Palmer-Bartell Forest
With a total of 230 acres, this preserve combines the Bartell area (110 acres) and the Palmer Preserve (119 acres). Bartell was acquired in 2002; Palmer in 1985.

Getting there: Drive North on Route 13 from the Route 130 intersection for 2.9 miles. The parking lot is on the left. The main trail takes you across a small bridge, up an incline and through a gradual decline as you enter the main area of the preserve.
Talbot-Taylor Wildlife Sanctuary
The 70-acre sanctuary is accessible only by foot and features a 22-acre pond which is home to ducks, geese and heron. Read more about this lovely peaceful sanctuary.

Getting there: Entrance to the sanctuary is on Cleveland Hill Road, 8/10th of a mile from Mason Road on the left just beyond house #40.
Whitcomb-Bross Woods
Acquired 2002-2005 and consists of about 300 acres.

Getting there:
- Take Mason Rd to Dupaw-Gould Road to Conneck Road. Park at the end of Conneck Road and walk the last driveway on the right to reach the conservation land.
- Enter from the end of Ben Farnsworth Road.
- Enter from North Mason, 1/10th mile beyond the Transfer Station.
